Ascension Chess Program

The goal of the Ascension Youth Chess Program is to share the passion for the game of chess, in a positive environment which promotes Christian values. Chess is a very effective mind training activity, and a great educational and motivational tool. Studies show that chess improves academic performance, strategic thinking, consideration of alternatives, and social skills.

Who Can Play?

All boys and girls, Grades Kindergarten - 8th, are eligible for participation in the CYC Chess Program if the child's family is a registered Member of Ascension Parish, lives within the Ascension Parish boundaries or attends Ascension Catholic School (unless your parish does not have a program).
