Become a Soccer Referee

• Anyone entering the 7th grade or older this fall is eligible to referee for the Ascension Training League.
• ​Referee candidates must be affiliated with an Ascension soccer team, the school or Ascension PSR, and must be a parishioner or reside within the parish boundaries 
• Anyone entering the 8th grade or older this fall is eligible to sit for the CYC Referee Training and Exam.  You must pass the test and be approved by a Head Referee to be allowed to officiate Trophy League games.  

• Training League Games (Pre-K, K & 1st Grade) - $18.00 per game
• 2nd & 3rd Grade Games - $23.00 per game
• 4th through 6th Grades - $30.00 per game
• 7th & 8th Grades - $40.00 per game
• Challenge games that are assigned to a particular ref - $50.00 per game

Training League (Pre-K, K & 1st Grade)

New 7th & 8th graders looking to learn to officiate are placed in our Training League. In addition to the District Requirements, they must attend an additional session for Training League expectations.

Trophy League (2nd Grade – High School)

Referees in good standing from last season will be allowed to self-schedule their games using our current on-line system, Ref Center. Some games may be manually scheduled as games come available. We will provide scheduling infomation for new training league officials via email.

Returning referees will be invited to participate in Ascension's annual pre-season tournament.

New and Training League referees will start with league play beginning in August on Saturdays and Sundays. These games will be at CVAC.

Referees provide their own uniform, stopwatch, whistle, and caution cards.  All of these items are available at local sporting goods stores. We wear an all-black uniform - black shoes, socks, shorts and jersey (with white pin stripes).
