Training League: Run by Ascension Athletic Association and consists of only Ascension teams
Trophy League: Run by the CYC and includes teams from many other parishes.
Who can be a referee?
Uniforms and Equipment
Referees provide their own uniform, stopwatch, whistle, and caution cards. All of these items are available at local sporting goods stores. We wear an all-black uniform - black shoes, socks, shorts and jersey (with white pin stripes).
When does the league start and how will I be scheduled?
Returning referees will be invited to participate in Ascension's annual pre-season tournament.
New and Training League referees will start with league play beginning the first weekend in September and running through mid-November. We only officiate Ascension home games which will all be scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays. These games will be at CVAC.
How the schedule works:
Referees in good standing from last season will be allowed to self-schedule their games using our current on-line system, Ref Center. Some games may be manually scheduled as games come available. We will provide scheduling infomation for new training league officials via email.
How much do referees make?
What training is required?
TRAINING LEAGUE REFEREES DO NOT NEED TO ATTEND DISTRICT TRAINING. New 7th & 8th graders looking to learn to officiate are placed in our Training League and are to attend a separate on-field workshop in place of the district classroom session and exam.
All returning Trophy League officials are required to annually re-take the district exam prior to the start of the regular season and pass the required exam. 2019 Testing dates and locations are currently under review by the Archdiocese.
Whether you are a returning official or looking to join our officiating team at Ascension for the upcoming soccer season, please send an email to Mark Kirsch at email@example.com with current updated contact information.
