The goal of the Ascension Youth Basketball Program is to develop a child's basketball skills in a positive environment which promotes Christian values.
All boys and girls, Grades Kindergarten - 8th, are eligible for participation in the CYC Basketball Program if the child's family is a registered Member of Ascension Parish, lives within the Ascension Parish boundaries, or attends Ascension School or Ascension PSR (unless your parish does not have a program).
Training League (K - 2nd Grade) $80 per player
* A late registration fee of $40 applies from the Registration End Date until the program can no longer accept players for that gender and age level.
A $25 Sibling Discount will be given on all registrations after the first family member. Please note this discount will only apply to your cart when all children are registered at the same time.
The Ascension Basketball Program will provide jerseys and basketballs for all players in the Ascension Training League. These are yours to keep.
Teams will typically include a minimum of seven players, and a maxium of twelve players. We will make every effort to ensure that each child is assigned to a team, if registered by the deadline.
All participants in grades 3-8 must obtain a CYC ID card. It is ideal to get one for each sport played in the same season. You can securely apply for a CYC ID Card online at www.cycstl.net.
All players are typically placed on the team from the previous year. All new participants will be placed on teams based on team numbers. The goal is to balance the player count per team across multiple teams at that gender/age level. When possible, we use the comment section of the registration form to place individuals on teams in which they might have a friend they want to play with. Please know we will do our best but this is not a guarantee and a great opportunity for your kids to make new friends.
West County CYC Recreational Tournament (Grades 3-8):
Runs from August 15th through October 15th each year. It is important to register on time to ensure your child will be placed on a team, and when possible, we use the comments section of the registration form to place kids on teams in which they might have a friend they want to play with. Participants that register after the deadline, will be placed on a waiting list. We cannot guarantee placement on a team for late registrants.
CYC League (Grades 3-8) $145 per player

NOTE: There are many reasons why "the program can no longer accept players for that gender and age level", for example:
The Ascension Basketball Program will provide team uniforms for all players in the CYC League (Grades 3-8).
All jerseys and shorts must be picked by a parent prior to the season and returned to one of the uniform collections at the end of the season. Please follow the appropriate care procedure and remember that these jerseys will be used by others in future years. Only wear the jerseys for games and not as play clothes. Also, please change before eating or drinking as stains are very difficult to remove. A fee may be assessed for damaged uniforms at the discretion of the Athletic Association. A fee will be assessed and your account suspended for failure to return the full uniform.
All parents are encouraged to volunteer in our Basketball Program as a Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Manager, practice/game helper, or party organizer. If your team already has a Head Coach, please ask him/her what you can do to help the team. Or contact the appropriate Basketball Coordinator for details on how to help. Parent Participation helps with the success of our Basketball program!
Each volunteer (coach, assistant coach) must fulfill their Archdiocese obligation by being compliant with the guidelines listed below. Non-compliance means we cannot accept volunteers that we greatly appreciate and need to make our Ascension programs successful.
