Guidelines & Requirements

COVID-19 is an extremely contagious virus that spreads easily through person-to-person contact.  Federal authorities and the State of Missouri recommend social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19.  Contracting COVID-19 can lead to severe illness, personal injury, permanent disability, and death. Use of Ascension Catholic Church Parish facilities and other CYC sanctioned venues or participation in their programs could increase the risk of you or your child contracting COVID-19. 

Ascension will follow the Youth Sports Guidelines as directed by St. Louis County, CYC and the City of Chesterfield.

  • All athletes and coaches MUST complete the digital self-screening process prior to participating each day.
  • Masks should be worn by Coaches at ALL TIMES
  • Masks should be worn by players except performing vigorious activities
  • Players need to remain socially distanced at all times
  • Practice good hygenie. Wash hands often or use hand sanitizer

What Should I Do If I Was Exposed?

Exposure is defined as direct contact or prolonged exposure (> 15 minutes) within 6 feet to a positive COVID-19 individual.
  1. Quarantine immediately
  2. Notify your healthcare provider
  3. Notify your coach and athleticassociation@ascensionchesterfield.org

Awaiting Covid-19 Test Results

If anyone in your household is awaiting Covid-19 test results, no member of your family may participate in ANY activities and should quarantine until cleared by a healthcare provider.

What To Do After Contracting Covid-19

CYC Return To Play After Positive Covid-19 Diagnosis  

Athletes/coaches must meet ALL of the following criteria to return to sports after a COVID-19 diagnosis:

  1. At least 14 days have passed since symptoms first appeared. During this time the athlete/coach should not participate in any exercise while monitoring of clinical worsening of symptoms.
  2. Symptoms have resolved, no fever (>100.4) for 72 hours without fever reducing medications, improvement in respiratory symptoms (cough, shortness of breath)
  3. The patient should be evaluated and provide a note to the Athletic Association and/or District for sport participation from a medical provider (MD, DO, NP, PA). 
  4. After returning, the athlete/coach should increase participation and exercise in a gradual and individualized process while monitoring for exercise fatigue or worsening symptoms. This individualized process should generated as a joint decision between the medical provider, coach and parent.
  5. If symptoms worsen or new symptoms occur during gradual return of play such as, but not limited to, chest pain, chest tightness, palpitations, lightheadedness, presyncope or syncope, then the athlete/coach should be evaluated by a medical provider.

Complete Daily Health Check

Required for all Ascension Players & Coaches no earlier than 60 minutes prior to Practices & Games

  1. Take temperature
  2. Complete form
  3. Coach receives log of completion

Basketball

Current Restrictions

  • All PARTICPANTS, COACHES & OFFICIALS MUST complete the digital self-screening process prior to participating each day.
  • Masks should be worn by Players, Coaches & Officials at ALL TIMES, for the duration of all practices, games, etc.
  • Temperatures will be taken on site, prior to participation.
  • Practice good hygiene. Wash hands often or use hand sanitizer
  • A limit of 2 coaches attending practices/games, although more may be on the official roster.
  • Rosters are limited to 10 participants in 2nd grade and under.  No limit on paritcipants for 3rd-8th
  • NO SPECTATORS are permitted at practices or games.

Chess

Current Restrictions

  • All participants, coaches and volunteers MUST complete the digital self-screening process prior to participating each day.
  • Temperatures will be taken on site.
  • Masks should be worn at ALL TIMES, from the time exiting the car until returning to the car.
  • Maintain 6' social distancing at all times
  • Use hand sanitizer immediately upon entering the building.
  • NO SPECTATORS are permitted at Chess lessons.  A limited number of parent volunteers can sign up to help at lessons, provided they use the Chess Class Signup Genius, complete the screening and wear a mask.
  • Parents should follow dropoff and pickup process as indicated on the map below, or may wait in the designated parking lot.
